Houston County Probate Court Launches E-Filing

Houston County Probate Court now accepts electronic filing through TrueFiling, a 24/7 web-based
e-filing solution for courts, law firms, and self-represented filers. Payment of filing fees is also
managed through the application.

To electronically file documents, users will need to create an account in the TrueFiling website:

An e-filing fee will be charged by TrueFiling at the rate of $14.00 per petition or caveat. A
convenience fee will be charged by the credit card processing company of 3.25%. All statutory fees collected by Houston County will remain unchanged.

Notice to E-Filers:

  1. You must submit a Death Certificate in Will Probates, Administrations,
    and Year’s Support Proceedings.
  2. Please do not submit the “Court Pages” portion of Any Petition
    1. Those pages start with a Notice that states:  NOTICE THE FOLLOWING PAGES ARE TO BE COMPLETED BY THE PETITIONER (MOVING PARTY) UNLESS OTHERWISE DIRECTED BY THE COURT. SEE UNIFORM PROBATE COURT RULE 5.6 (A).  (Houston County Probate Court does not wish for you to complete these pages)

General Information

The Probate Court of Houston County handles Vital Records, Marriage Licenses, Weapons Carry Licenses, Estates, Guardianships and Conservatorships of Minors and Incapacitated Adults along with numerous miscellaneous duties.

We are located in the New Judicial Complex of Houston County. Our hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. You may come in anytime to apply for a marriage license, copies of vital records, and to file documents for estates and guardianships. You must be here by 4:00 pm to apply for a Renew or New Weapons Carry License. However, to expedite your services, you will need to make an appointment for the following services:

  • Name changes/corrections
  • If you need to speak with a clerk or the Judge regarding your filings in Estates, Guardianships and Conservatorships
  • To discuss a matter with Judge Harris
