Code Enforcement
The Sheriff's Office is responsible for code enforcement. The code enforcement officer works to ensure that county codes not related to building codes or health codes are enforced. In most cases as prescribed by county code a violator of a code must be advised of the violation and given at 15 days to correct the violation. To report a code violations please call Corporal Steven Ondik at 542-2095. For building code violations please call the Building Inspector's officer at 542-2018 and for possible health code violations please call the state health environmental health department at 542-2102.
Raffle License Information
Also, the Sheriff's Office is charged with enforcing the Georgia Raffle License law. Any group non profit group wishing to hold a raffle must apply for a license before raffle tickets are sold. To qualify for a raffle license the organization must have been in existence at least 24 months prior to submitting the application and the applicant must be 18 years of age or older.
The raffle license application must be completed with a list of elected officers, names of members of the board of directors, list of who is permitted to operate raffles on behalf of the organization, list of all persons or organizations or other legal entities that will act as surety for the applicant or to which the applicant is financially indebted or to which any financial obligation is owed by the applicant, and letters from the Internal Revenue Service and the Georgia Department of Revenue certifying that the applicant is an organization exempt under federal and state tax laws.
